9/26/16 Meeting Notes
Our third Orlando Lady Developers meetup was hosted once again by the amazing Liz Miner at PowerDMS. Paninos Pizza was provided thanks to Susana Miller at The Iron Yard, PowerDMS was kind enough to let us tap into their beer keg, and Meetup member dues were sponsored by Code Hangar, Inc.
Susanna Miller started us off with a short talk to let us know about the Tech Opportunity Fund, designed to support those who are underrepresented in the technology industry. If you have any questions, or want to find out more, you can reach out to Susanna directly via the Orlando Developers Slack group.
Next, Martha Cornejo, showed us an alternative way to develop mobile applications, with web technologies such as HTML5, SASS and AngularJS using Ionic Framework to save time by developing once and deploying across multiple platforms. She gave us a short demonstration on how to create a new project and test app. It’s not very often that you get to see someone build an app in realtime. We were all very impressed! Here are the slides from her talk.
The final talk of the evening was given by LadyDevs meetup organizer, Cassandra Wilcox. She shared with us some of the tools and methods she uses in her day to day as a coding professional. The slides from her talk can be found here.
The next Orlando Lady Developers Meetup is scheduled for Wednesday October 26th. Stay tuned for details!
